True Life has Lived Here is a project that was birthed out of my thoughts during a month home spending lots of time with my Oma. I really started thinking about the elderly and how they spend the end of their lives.
These three projects are expressions of an elderly woman, living alone in her home, surrounded by her memories, knowledge, stories and remembering everything she has seen and heard and thought and felt. In my projects I wanted to address a sort of forgotten and sadness, yet a celebration of the fullness of her life as a reminder for us to look up and out, away from our busy lives and to remember with them.
My vehicle for expressing these thoughts through the projects was a tiny pink home on Lincoln Street in Savannah. I chose this home because it made a great analogy for the elderly woman that I loosely based off my Oma.
